The historical lack of diversity in STEM fields has been an issue that continues to persist from affecting students' academic decisions to workplace dynamics. The First-Generation, Low-Income Community Initiative would like to create a space to talk about diversity (or the lack thereof) in STEM fields through a conversation between students, faculty, and alumni in our community. The conversation will hopefully give people a space to talk about the difficulties but also share ways to make space in the field.
We invite individuals of all identities (this is not an exclusive event for first-generation, low-income students) to discuss how this affects them and how they deal with it to give people a space to express themselves, share their experiences, and learn from each other.
This event will be held on March 26th from 4:00-5:00 pm in the Good Life Center Lounge (Byers 417). Light refreshments will be provided. Please fill out this very short form if you plan on attending. Feel free to share this event and we hope to see you there!
